Jim went to school in Pennsylvania to learn how to make ice cream and started
Woodside Farm Creamery where his luscious ice cream was voted "Delaware's Best..."
by the News Journal in 2005. Lockbriar Farms was one of Jim's first wholesale
customers–we supplied our strawberries to add
to his milk for small batches of Strawberry Ice Cream, which we've sold
as our own. We later opened a produce and ice cream business in the Wilmington
Riverfront Farmer's Market when it opened a few years ago. We took all of Jim's
flavors with us and, needless to say, they were a big hit.

After leaving Wilmington (because of rising rent costs), we purchased an
"Ice Cream Barn" from an apple orchard in PA and moved it to State Line Liquors
on Elkton-Newark Road, where we have a produce stand. Someday, we hope to have
ice cream available at our farm, using our own farm-grown fruits. We appreciate the
philosophy of farmers helping farmers. In the meantime, we will be offering
our own Strawberry Ice Cream "FREE" of charge for one entire day during "U-Pick"
Strawberry Season. We think you'll agree, it's some of the best ice
cream you've ever had. Watch for our advertisement in the newspaper and stop
back often for updates
on this website! |

May 22, 2008... Strawberries & MORE! We're open daily on the Worton Farm with 4 different strawberry varieties available for
"U-Pick". We're excited about this year's crop just waiting for hungry pickers. Our strawberries are ripe, sweet, juicy and delicious! There's just something great about a fresh, picked strawberry...we think you'll agree that you can't get enough! So come visit us for strawberries, we're open 7am to 7pm (weather permitting), while the season lasts. Oh and remember...the Chestertown Farmers Market is cancelled this weekend because of the Tea Party. We've been invited to set up in Centreville on Saturday morning and we'll have our Farm Market open at the farm from 10am to 6pm. See you there...you won't want to miss out! |

May 22, 2008: 2008 Pumpkin Season - We will have a great selection
of pumpkins, gourds, Indian Corn, etc. this year planted in last years Strawberry section. New for this
season will be our 1st Corn Maze. After much discussion, we decided to ask our neighbor if we could
lease 10 acres too for this venture. We need 5 acres for the maze, but need to keep 5 acres clear
to rotate corn for the 2009 season. We leased property from the owner and agreed to pay for the
corn seed for the former currently leasing property with the agreement that he plants the corn we
use for our Maze in and he sets the crop after October 31! It's a good deal for everyone. That's
what we like to see (Farmers helping Farmers)!!
